For women - FAQ
- Is it possible for children to have laser surgery?
Yes, it is. You will find more information on the Laser Surgery in Children webpage.
- I´ve heard that eye disorders get worse during pregnancy. Shall I wait with the surgery until childbirth?
It is useless to wait. Enjoy the freedom and independence of your vision already today.
The disorder gets worse in approximately 20% of patients during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It remains stable in 80% of women
Are you afraid that you are among the 20% of those whose disorder will get worse? It doesn´t matter, we have a solution for you.
If you undergo NeoLASIK or NeoLASIK HD surgery, the price of the surgery will include lifetime guarantee on free laser care.
In NeoVize you can be certain that should you need to correct the dioptric condition of your eyes through another laser surgery in your life due to the progression of the disorder, the NeoVize Eye Clinic will provide the surgery for free at its own cost.
- Can the eye operated on with laser split during childbirth?
It can´t. The mechanical resistance of the eye operated on with laser is sufficient enough to endure even the most difficult childbirth.
- Is it possible to undergo surgery during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
If there is a really important reason, it is theoretically possible.
However, we prefer to postpone the surgery. The woman should not take any medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding if it is not inevitable.
- Can I have surgery during menstruation?
Menstruation is not a problem for laser surgery.
However, if the period before menstruation and the process of menstruation are connected with general uneasiness or other difficulties, let´s try to schedule the surgery outside the period.
In the case of non-laser surgery with intraocular lens implantation, it is better to do the surgery outside the period. If menstruation appears unexpectedly on the day of the scheduled non-laser surgery, please inform the doctor. The doctor will decide whether it is possible to do the surgery or whether it is necessary to postpone it.
- Do I have to remove make-up before surgery?
Yes, it is a must. Please, be sure to thoroughly remove your make-up. In particular, carefully remove the last bits of mascara from the base of your eyelashes.
Glue-fixed bundles of artificial eyelashes do not matter on principle. But don´t be angry with us if any of them loosens up during the surgery.
- Can I carry a child in the arms and lift it from the floor after the surgery?
After laser surgery, you can - be only careful that the child doesn´t hit your eye in the first week.
In the case of non-laser surgery with lens implantation, it depends on the proportion of the weight of your child in relation to your physical abilities. An infant or a child of up to 1 year of age won´t perhaps be a problem. Be careful with children weighing more than 15 kg. The biggest danger here is also a hit in the eye.
We do not disallow bending as such. The thing is that you do not load your body with extreme stress. Then you keep your belly stiff and close your eyes tight.
- How long after the surgery can I put make-up on my eyelids and eyelashes?
After laser surgery do not put make-up on your eyelashes for two weeks.
As regards non-laser surgery, consult your doctor after a week - one week without make-up should be enough in this case.
If your eyelids are bright or red and you think that you can´t do without making up your eyelashes for such a long time, consider dyeing them. However, have the eyelashes dyed at least a week before the scheduled surgery.
You can carefully make up your eyelids already in a week after the surgery. It is not that making up your eyelids could do damage but we are afraid of the pressure on the eyelids and eyes during when the make-up is removed.
If necessary, it is possible to wear make-up on other parts of the face in the evening after the surgery.
If you come for a postoperative examination, please do not wear make-up on your eyelids and eyelashes. - How long after the surgery can I have a shower, wash my hair and have a bath?
You can have a bath on the day of surgery. If it is really necessary, you can also wash your hair on the day of surgery.
It will be easier for you if you have someone to help you wash your hair. Washing your hair in special hairdressing basins with your head bending backward is an ideal and the safest solution in the first days after the surgery.
It is important in the first week after the surgery that no dirty liquid gets in your eye as well as nothing that would urge you to rub them heavily.
Wash your head as usual from the second week. However, it is advisable to use a shampoo that does not irritate eyes, e.g. JOHNSON'S® Baby shampoo, for one more week. - You can have a bath on the day of surgery. It is important in the first week after the surgery that nothing gets in your eye since you would be urged to rub the eye heavily.
According our experience, it is best to use JOHNSON'S® Baby shampoo in this period. It does not burn even if gets in the eye.
After two weeks you can use the same shampoo as before the surgery.
Please do not swim in public swimming pools for 4 weeks. - I like to dive. Will I be able to dive after the surgery?
Yes, you will. Femtosecond laser surgery has been approved in the US Navy for divers and other US NAVY SEAL members.
We recommend NeoLASIK or NeoLASIK HD surgery for divers.
However, please do not dive for 4 weeks after the surgery. - How long after the surgery should I not have sex?
Making love as such cannot hurt the eye.
If you cannot do without sex on the day of surgery, choose softer practices and ask your partner not to kiss your eyelids and not to touch your eyes. Especially your partner´s nose can be a bit dangerous in this case.
Follow the restriction for at least one week after the surgery.

Even though I've been involved with multifocal intraocular lenses for over 20 years, it is amazing what I've been able to learn in the past three weeks from my own experience with having multifocal lenses in my eyes. (PRELEX with Alcon Acrysof Restor Multifocal lens)
The decision to travel to NeoVize EyeClinc and to heve the laser surgery there was one of my best decisions in my life.
