- Am I a suitable for laser or non-laser surgery?
Do you wear glasses or contact lenses? Do you have any other serious eye or general disease? If you don´t, it is quite certain that we will help you.
NeoVize Eye Clinic can help to 9 out of 10 patients.
Remember - neither age nor stability of the disorder are the determining condition. We can operate on patients younger than 18 and patients with a progressive disorder.
- Is it better for me to have laser or non-laser surgery?
We can operate any number of diopters. We mostly choose laser surgery for eyes with a disorder of -0.25 to cca -10 diopters and for eyes with +0.5 to cca +5.0 diopters.
We mostly prefer non-laser ICL and RLE-type surgery with intraocular lens implantation for eyes with a disorder of over -10 diopters (short-sightedness) and of over +5 diopters (long-sightedness).
You will find more detailed information on the Types of Surgery website.
- Do you also treat astigmatism?
Yes, we do. To a certain extent, astigmatism is present in more than 70% of our patients.
The basis is different curvature of optical areas at different levels.
Astigmatism is mostly corrected laser surgery. In some cases, especially as regards people over 40 years of age, it is better to correct astigmatism with non-laser surgery.
In your glasses prescription, astigmatism is abbreviated to cyl and its axis (abbreviated to ax) is expressed in angle degrees, e.g. -1.5 cyl ax 145 degrees.
- Do I have to wait till the prescription is stable?
If you did not have any dioptres half year ago and now you have -0.5 diopter, we recommend to wait.
In NeoVize you can be certain that should you need to correct the dioptric condition of your eyes through another laser surgery in your life due to the progression of the disorder, the NeoVize Eye Clinic will provide the surgery for free at its own cost.
- Is it better to wait with the surgery till the “after children” time?
It is useless to wait. Enjoy the freedom and independence of your vision already today.
The disorder gets worse in approximately 20% of patients during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It remains stable in 80% of women.
Are you afraid that you are among the 20% of those whose disorder will get worse? It doesn´t matter, we have a solution for you.
If you undergo NeoLASIK or NeoLASIK HD surgery, the price of the surgery will include lifetime guarantee on free laser care.
In NeoVize you can be certain that should you need to correct the dioptric condition of your eyes through another laser surgery in your life due to the progression of the disorder, the NeoVize Eye Clinic will provide the surgery for free at its own cost.
- One of my eyes is affected by amblyopia (lazy eye) , can I undergo surgery?
Yes, it is very probable that you can - we can improve vision in 8 out of 10 patients with amblyopia (lazy eye).
Lazy eye or amblyopia means insufficient development of the retina as well as of superior brain centres that process the image. The development is complete at about 8 years of age and cannot be affected later.
However, it is possible to affect the refractive defect that is almost always combined with amblyopia.
Amblyopic eye will never be able to see as good as the other eye of yours. However, the seeing may improve by up to several lines of examination optotypes without using glasses.
Non-laser surgery is often a better solution in the case of amblyopia combined with bad long-sightedness.
- What is short-sightedness? What is myopia?
Short-sightedness is an English term for myopia. It is a minus refractive defect.
Short-sightedness is corrected with diverging lenses - diopter glasses with a minus (-) mark.
The eyeball is too long in the case of short-sightedness. Long-distance refracted rays meet in front of the retina.
A short-sighted person cannot see well in the distance. A certain disadvantage is that s/he can see up close without glasses.
Short-sightedness of up to cca -10 diopters can be corrected with laser surgery.
ICL-type surgery is a better solution for more serious disorders.
RLE and PRELEX-type surgery is sometimes a better solution for people over 50 years of age. - What is long-sightedness? What is hypermetropia?
Long-sightedness is an English name for hypermetropia. It is a plus refractive defect.
Long-sightedness is corrected with converging lenses - diopter glasses with a plus (+) mark.
The eyeball is too short in the case of long-sightedness. Long-distance refracted rays meet behind the retina.
A long-sighted person cannot mostly see in the distance and cannot see up close either. Unfortunately, there is no advantage in the disorder (contrary to a short-sighted person who cannot see well in the distance can see up close, s/he does not usually need glasses to read).
Long-sightedness of up to cca +5 diopters can be corrected with laser surgery.
ICL-type surgery is a better solution for more serious disorders.
RLE and PRELEX-type surgery is sometimes a better solution for people over 35 years of age. - What is astigmatism?
Astigmatism means that there is a difference in the degree of refraction at different levels (axes).
We can say, in a simplified way, that one of the optical areas of the eye is "ovoid" instead of globoid.
Astigmatism is mostly inborn and does not get significantly worse over time.
Seventy percent of our patients have some degree of astigmatism. It is combined both with long-sightedness and short-sightedness.
Astigmatism is mostly correct ed with laser surgery.
- What is presbyopia?
Presbyopia is an inability of the eye to focus on objects within normal reading distance.
Presbyopia occurs in over 40 years of age and is based on the loss of elasticity of the crystalline.
Presbyopia becomes worse when people get older - reading glasses need to be stronger and stronger.
Presbyopia is mostly corrected with non-laser PRELEX-type surgery during which special multifocal intraocular lens is implanted in the eye, whereas the lens allows you to see in the distance as well as to see up close without using glasses.
If early presbyopia is combined with plus distance glasses, the condition can be significantly improved in the case of people of about 35 to 45 years of age even by means of laser surgery.
- I am younger than 18, can I undergo surgery?
Yes, you can, we regularly do surgery in patients younger than 18.
Previously, when not so perfect PRK-type laser methods were only available, doctors recommended to wait until 18 years of age. The reason was that it was difficult and risky to repeat older types of surgery in case the disorder got worse again.
The situation is different today. The technique of how NeoLASIK and NeoLASIK HD surgery is made creates favourable conditions for simple additional surgery that does not stress the patient.
f you undergo NeoLASIK or NeoLASIK HD surgery, you will be given lifetime guarantee in the form of free provision of laser care, whereas the guarantee is included in the price of the surgery.
In NeoVize you can be certain that should you need to correct the dioptric condition of your eyes through another laser surgery in your life due to the progression of the disorder, the NeoVize Eye Clinic will provide the surgery for free at its own cost.
- I am older than 50, can I undergo surgery?
Yes, you can, there is no upper age limit.
Non-laser forms of surgery are most often chosen for people over 50 years of age because they are more efficient in this age group and allow us to remove the need to use reading glasses.
In a number of cases, however, we are able to help to people over 50 even by means of laser surgery. - I have very strong glasses. Can you help me?
Very probably, we can.
We have methods that can be used for any type or degree of the eye disorder. The medical director of the NeoVize Eye Clinic, MUDr. Josef Hycl, CSc., has successfully operated on a female patient who had -31 diopters, and a male patient who had +16 diopters.
If modern non-laser methods are used, a higher number of diopters than in these patients should not be a problem either.
- Can strabismus be treated with laser surgery?
Actual strabismus cannot be corrected with laser surgery.
However, strabismus can combine with a plus refractive defect that can be corrected. In some cases, the removal of the refractive defect can decrease the scope of strabismus.
- I was examined at another place before and they told me that they could not do anything with my eyest. Can you help me?
Don´t give up, very probably, we can help you.
We have a wider spectrum of methods than a standard refractive clinic. Moreover, today we use techniques which were not known several years ago. We use various methods and their combinations. We will find a solution for 9 out of 10 patients.
It is true that the path is sometimes more difficult in the case of complicated conditions but we strive to help wherever it is in the power of modern eye medicine.
We can help to patients with so-called keratoconus even though a number of clinics refuses to do any surgery. - Do you operate on children?

Mgr. Lenka Novotná - lawyer, NeoLasik HD
The decision to travel to NeoVize EyeClinc and to heve the laser surgery there was one of my best decisions in my life.
Even though I've been involved with multifocal intraocular lenses for over 20 years, it is amazing what I've been able to learn in the past three weeks from my own experience with having multifocal lenses in my eyes. (PRELEX with Alcon Acrysof Restor Multifocal lens)
