The basic principle is regularity. Include the application of 0.03% bimatoprost among your regular hygienic moments in the evening - do not omit it for a single day.

Have the drops within your reach. Put the bottle near the tooth brush so that you do not forget about it.

Hold on, patience is required. Do not apply the solution more than once a day, do not rush and do not wonder if you do not see any effect after 14 days. Sometimes 4 to 6 weeks are needed before the effect occurs.

Do not try to catch up in the case of omission. If you forget about it one day, go on in a normal way on the other day.

Think about hygiene. Never touch the bottle with the applicator. Put a drop on the applicator from above without touching the bottle with the applicator. Close the bottle carefully immediately after.

Come to see the doctor. It useful to check your eyes in 6 months and evaluate the effect of the therapy.

Aesthetic medicine is not just cosmetic surgery. Not everyone has the courage (and money) to have their bust remodelled, their nose reshaped, their face lifted or their excessive fat removed through liposuction. Less courageous and well-off people can have their wrinkles removed with Botox and their skin rejuvenated with filling materials.

However, we are still waiting for a beauty pill - I swallow the pill on one day and I wake up younger and more beautiful and attractive on the other. Fantasy? It is, for the time being. But beauty drops are already here! Drops that can extend the volume, length and deepness of colour of your eyelashes.

With Dr Josef Hycl, CSc., the medical director of the NeoVize Eye Clinic in Brno, and with his sixteen-year-old daughter Barbara we were talking about how women and girls can become, quickly, painlessly and at a reasonable price, more beautiful and attractive.

Editors: Bára, you´re probably the first woman in the Czech Republic to have tried Lumigan drops to extend eyelash volume and length.

Bára Hyclová: That´s true. Dad has brought information from the USA that they have approved for use drops that extend and accentuate eyelashes. My lashes were rather short and not so expressive and I bothered myself with eye pencil and mascara but it was never good. I have been using the drops for 4 weeks and can see the difference. I like it even now and expect that the lashes will get a bit longer during next weeks.

Dr. Hycl: I would specify the term drops a bit. Lumigan is really drops. But in this case, they are not applied directly in the eye. By means of an applicator moistened with a drop of Lumigan, we only brush over eyelash roots at the edge of the upper eyelid every evening. Contrary to eye pressure treatment where drops need to get directly in the eye, here it is enough to moist the skin around eyelash roots.

Editors: What is Lumigan used for in eye medicine?

Dr. Hycl: Lumigan is a 0.03% solution of bimatoprost, which is a substance used by eye medicine for many years to reduce eye pressure. It is produced by Allegran that, among others, produces Botox as well. The product for eyelash extension is sold under the name Latisse in the USA. Eyelash extension is a side effect of treatment of high eye pressure; it has been proven over time and welcomed by patients-women.

Editors: It sounds a bit weird. A side effect of treatment of high eye pressure?

Dr. Hycl: Making advantage of positive side effects of some medicines is nothing new. Viagra was at first a medicine to lower blood pressure and has become the best selling medicine to support male sexual functions due to its interesting side effects. The same can be said about bimatoprost with a bit of exaggeration and humour.

Editors: Bára, how long do you need to use bimatoprost, how long will the effect last?

Bára Hyclová: I´ve learnt everything from the Internet on www.latisse.com. Lumigan is applied for 6 to 10 weeks. Long eyelashes will last for around 6 months. Then it is useful to use the product again for some time. Detailed information in Czech can be found on www.neovize.cz. I´ve always wished to have eyelashes like Audrey Hepburn. And I wouldn´t believe that it will come true so easily.

Editors: Doctor, where can I get bimatoprost and how much does it cost?

Dr. Hycl: Every client needs to undergo medical examination before bimatoprost is applied. Eyelash extension with bimatoprost is not suitable for patients with chronic eye inflammations and some other eye disorders. Therefore, the doctor must decide whether the application is advisable. That is why free sale is not allowed. The doctor should instruct the woman how to properly apply the substance, and s/he should also take pictures and measure the eyelashes so that we can later evaluate the effect of the treatment. The price of the package that includes medical examination, instructions, application training and the actual preparation, is CZK 2 300.

Bára Hyclová: I recommend it a lot to all women and girls. My short eyelashes changed into long and strong ones after a month of application of Lumigan. I only use mascara for special events now because my beautiful eyelashes ensure that I look well even without that. I´d never believe that I will be able to charm with my eyes.
